The situation escalated after a group of people protested and obstructed police vehicles while officers were attempting to take an accused person into custody. Taking cognizance of the incident, the Karnataka BJP criticized the Congress-led state government, alleging a total failure of law and order and accusing the ruling party of practicing appeasement politics. The BJP demanded strict action against those involved in blocking police personnel from discharging their duties and called for full autonomy for the police department to ensure public safety.
